The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...

* Until 800 PM CDT.

* At 659 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing
  waterspouts was located 8 nm northwest of Kenner, moving south at
  10 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage
           vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves.
           Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
           suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  Kenner.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water.
Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Seek shelter or move
to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

BAPTIST AND NORTHWESTERN ST. CHARLES PARISHES THROUGH 745 PM CDT

At 700 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm
capable of producing waterspouts over marine areas near Laplace,
moving south at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and winds in excess of 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
         hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs
         and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Laplace, Hahnville, Norco, Montz, New Sarpy, Killona, Taft, St. Rose,
Destrehan, and Edgard.

This includes the following Interstates...
 Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 208 and 221.
 Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 7.
 Interstate 310 between mile markers 1 and 3.

The areas affected include...
  Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...

At 652 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. This
thunderstorm was located 7 nm northwest of Kenner, moving south at 10
knots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe
harbor immediately until this activity passes.

Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on
alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development.
